I
really don't think that the specific equipment used in fine art photography is
that critical, however it is a
tool and must perform well. For those interested I use a Nikon F5 and
for most of my 35 mm film work. Most of the images from Coney Island, India, Russia,
and China are 35mm. For this work, I use Kodak Royal Gold 100 and Fuji Velvia.
For
medium format I use a Mamiya RZ-67 with a full range of lenses.
For
larger format projects, I use a Horseman 45FA 4x5s, a Cambo 4x5 Legend, a Cambo
8x10 Legend view camera and a Toyo M 8x10 field camera. I use
a Linhof Aero Technika for 4x5 aerial work.
I
hand print all of my black and white images. For this work I use an Omega D5
enlarger with a an Illford Multigrade head, a
Durst 138S 5x7 and a
Fotar 10x10 Horizontal enlarger for large format negatives.
I
use Photo Shop for processing digital scans and am doing increasing amount of
digital work.
I
use Bokland Custom Visuals for printing digitally
mastered negatives and transparencies which are then printed on a LightJet 430 Laser
printer. I am finding I can make prints up to 48" x 60" from 35mm
negatives while maintaining tremendous clarity and definition.
