The Northstar Mermaid Gallery presents a collection of fine art photographs of the Coney Island Mermaid Parade and other carnival art with a mermaid and Siren theme. The wonderful Coney Island Mermaid Parade occurs the first Saturday after the summer solstice around the third week of June, Hundreds of mermaids, Neptunes, mer-men and hundreds of thousands of spectators descend upon Coney Island to celebrate the beginning of Summer and the official opening of the Atlantic Ocean. Part Mardi Gras, part art parade, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade is  a New York tradition. The Northstar Mermaid Gallery photos explore the nature and historical role played by Coney Island and mermaids in a wondrous celebration of diversity and all that is different and strange.
